Hi All,

I discovered this week that my personal e-mail address has been hijacked, and someone has been sending e-mails to people masquerading as me.

I also know that someone has been registering on various messageboards and forums, posting messages leading people to believe that it is me, when it is not.

I don't know yet who is responsible, how long it has been going on, nor may I ever find out, but if you have received a message from me at my personal e-mail address, or if you have seen something posted on any messageboard/forum other than this one that leads you to believe it is me, it may not actually be from me!

I am currently taking steps to sort out the problem and will advise each person in my address book accordingly. There will be system put in place to ensure that the person at the other end knows that the message is truly from me, but it will be unique to every person in my address book so it cannot be replicated by an imposter.

In the interim, please be aware that if you have received an e-mail from me at my BT account, it may not have actually been from me!

I do not believe that PM's sent through this forum have been affected, but please do contact me if you have any queries.

My aplogies for any inconvenience this may cause. The internet does seem to be a bit of a "wild west" at times, and despite the good things that it does, there will be those that will attempt to abuse its power.
